The wrapping paper collage "Spring Cocktail" captures a moment most of us know well. The first warm day of spring by the river, a picnic winding down as the evening cools. A light breeze. The sky shifting slowly into shades of soft purple and pink. You are aware the moment will not last, but you are not ready to leave it yet.

Spring has been celebrated for centuries as a time of renewal, a return of light and warmth after a long, quiet winter. The collage reflects this in its palette: lilac, blush, sage green, soft gold. These are colours associated with optimism and new beginnings, which is why so many cultures historically marked the start of the new year with the arrival of spring rather than the depths of winter.

Among the fragments that make up the collage, your eye is drawn to a detail from a portrait of Anne, Princess of Orange, painted by Johan Valentin Tischbein. Her gentle hand and the soft folds of her silk and lace dress fit naturally into the overall mood of the piece. Princess Anne was an artist herself, studying under the Dutch painter Herman van der Mijn. She was known for rising early to paint portraits and flowers, orange blossoms in particular, and was called the "flower of princesses."

The paper comes in a set of pre-cut sheets in three sizes, small, medium, and large, so most packages wrap up quickly with very little adjustment needed. Before you use it, try misting your favourite spring scent into the air just above the paper and letting it settle gently. Do not spray directly onto the surface. The result is wrapping paper that engages not just the eyes, but touch, sound, and scent as well.
