FABRIC WRAP CARE GUIDE
Fabric wraps add a polished and sophisticated touch to any gift. It is a reusable wrapping option inspired by the Japanese furoshiki; the art of wrapping one’s belongings with silk cloths.
Manuela Menzi Studio’s fabric wraps are made of high-quality textiles, such as silk, viscose, and cotton. Our wrapping materials feature original collage designs that unravel a story; each one inspired by nature, art, and literature.
Although fabric wraps are more durable than wrapping paper, following our detailed care guide will help you preserve their vibrancy and overall quality over a longer period of time.
Check your parcel
As soon as your fabric wrap parcel from Manuela Menzi Studio arrives, inspect it for signs of damage and to confirm that its contents match your order. In the rare event that the wrong items have been delivered, please check our return policy and contact us as soon as possible.
Handle with Care
Once your package is opened, remove the wrap gently and take a moment to appreciate each motif and detail on the fabric. To avoid smudges, handle it with clean, dry hands, as oils and dirt can be transferred on the fabric. Moreover, to ensure the wrap can be reused, avoid pulling or purposely ripping it apart when wrapping and unwrapping a gift.
Mind Your Jewellery
As our fabric wraps are made of premium textiles, many customers use them as scarves or shawls. To extend their lifetime, be mindful of jewellery and accessories with clasps and rough edges – they can easily catch on delicate fabrics and cause snags. Moreover, avoid wearing them in wet weather, as moisture can cause felting.
Hand Wash and Air Dry
To ensure the fabric wrap remains clean between uses, you can gently wash it with cold water and a mild detergent. If you opt for machine wash, choose the delicate cycle and use a mesh laundry bag to protect the fabric. Once washed, air dry the fabric wrap to prevent shrinkage and damage. Lastly, although our viscose and cotton-silk blends can be ironed, it is crucial to use a low heat setting and a pressing cloth to protect the collage designs.
Store in a Fabric Bag
The fabric wraps can be folded and stored in a fabric bag or in a drawer to avoid dust accumulation. Make sure that the drawer’s surface is smooth – rough surfaces can cause snag and tears. Alternatively, you can hang the fabric on a hanger and store it in a closet.
Protect Against Moths
Once stored, the wraps can attract insects that feed on fabric, such as moths. To avoid this, place mothballs, cedar blocks, or lavender sachets in the drawer. Dried cloves, thyme, and other herbs are also known to deter such insects. Lastly, regularly cleaning the storage area is an important preventive measure, as it eliminates moth eggs and larvae.
Protect from sunlight
UV rays can cause prints to fade, discolour, and become brittle over time. Keep the fabric wraps from Manuela Menzi Studio away from direct sunlight to preserve the vividity of the unique collage designs.
By following our detailed care guide, your fabric wraps will maintain their vibrancy till the moment they are wrapped around a treasured gift for a very special person.
